The Manor at Camp John Hay

On the average, we travel to Baguio at least once every two years.  Every time we go, the hotel that is top on our list is The Manor at Camp John Hay.  Years after they opened, The Manor has not lost its touch. Nestled amidst towering pine trees in Baguio’s most pristine location at Camp John Hay, its log cabin design and Baguio stone exterior finish blends well with nature.

It also boasts of a magnificent view of the Cordillera mountain range, an enchanting garden filled with greenery, colorful flowers that grow beautifully in Baguio’s cold weather, a multi-layer water feature with a koi pond and a romantic gazebo (where Mickey and I also tied the knot back in 2009).

When we arrived, we were instantly welcomed and greeted by The Manor staff, most of whom we have known to be with The Manor for quite some time.  It was great to see their friendly faces once again.

Checking-in as expected was a breeze, and what’s noticeably new this year is that they serve hot moringa calamansi juice as soon as you arrive.  Perfect to match the cold weather with (which by the way, is a cool 13 degrees at night!).

As we opened the door to our room, it felt like coming home once again.  We ran towards the veranda, sat on our favorite chairs and just gazed at the view.  Hello.....Baguio!

The Manor has also started making preparations for Christmas!

Love these huge animal statues

At night, they light up the big pine tree in the middle of the garden
which is filled with these capiz lanterns.  I just love looking at them.

What I love most about Baguio is anticipating the glorious sunrise.
As soon as I wake up, I go to the veranda just to marvel at it's glory.

Trip advisor has awarded The Manor at Camp John Hay with a Certificate of Excellence for 2012.
I am happy that they have kept their standards up all these years.

Baguio's cool weather is perfect at this time of year. Head North to The Manor at Camp John Hay, Loakan Road, Baguio City, Philippines for that much needed vacation!  For reservations, call The Manor at (074) 424 0931 to 47/50 to 53.

Hi Tina, I just stumbled upon your blog while looking for some info regarding Camp John Hay and I find it very helpful. Now I just wanted to ask if which was overall better base on your experience, the forest lodge or the manor? We're going there this September for the first time on my girlfriend's birthday and we want to make it special but I just can't decide which is better to stay for the night. Your reply will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Callum

Hi Callum, Based on my experience, although both hotels are great, The Manor is much more special. Dining at Le Chef's courtyard garden is one experience you shouldn't miss. I hope you both have a great time celebrating in Baguio!
