Ocean Restaurant by Iron Chef Cat Cora

I reserved a table at Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora a few months earlier before our trip to Singapore so that I can request a table right beside the big aquarium.  Since it was a request, I wasn't sure if we would really get one (but I was hoping we will) given that it was quite a unique restaurant.

Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora is the latest dining concept developed by Resorts World Sentosa and Cat Cora - renowned celebrity chef and the first female Iron Chef in Singapore.  Cat Cora's dishes are light and healthy and uses the freshest produce from around the region.  The restaurant is located inside the S.E.A. Aquarium where diners get a magnificent view of the Open Ocean habitat while enjoying a truly memorable dining experience.

Guess what?  Here we are at our preferred table at Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora.  Come take a peek!

I have to say that the view from our table was absolutely spectacular!

Why is there no stingray emoji?

Beautiful Manta Rays swimming by (they actually look like they're flying).  Manta Reef Rays have spot patterns on their underbelly, as unique as human finger prints.

There are two set lunch menus at Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora.  The three-course set is S$58 per person (or P2,030 per person), while the five-course set is S$72 per person (or P2,520 per person).  Mickey and I each ordered the five course set.   Here's what we had for lunch:

Pink Shrimp
Taretare/Salsa Vert/Dashi Jelly/Watermelon
Yuzu-Soy reduction

Crisp Brick Foie Gras
Tamarind-Balsamic Reduction/Ginger Candy/Cocoa Nib/Puffed Buckwheat

Cream of Sunchoke
Watercress/Truffle

New Zealand Sustainable Fresh Fish
Ratte Mash/Crustacean Creme/Caviar Vinaigrette

Braised-Seared Beef Short Rib
Puff Barley & Oatmeal/Carrot-Kaffir Puree

Chocolate Ends
Grand Marnier Mango Sphere

While enjoying our desserts, I noticed that the background music playlist was so up to date.  They were playing an acoustic version of "This Girl" by Kungs vs. Cookin' On 3 Burners, so cool!

Verdict:

Was the food good?  Oh yes! Given that I knew that the dishes that will be served were smaller than the usual food serving, Mickey and I were both full and were extremely pleased that the food has an explosion of nice flavors and different textures.  It also has satisfied a curiosity, we always wondered what the dishes of Iron Chefs tasted like.  I must say that it was on a different level and a more upscale one at that.

Was it worth it?  You bet!  It's so worth it, that the next time we go back to Singapore, I am booking a table again, by the big aquarium.  The experience was definitely one of a kind.  The kind you'll never forget.
