King Cup Sardines

Did you know that a single can of sardines is packed with high protein and is low in carbohydrates?  It is also one of the easiest and most affordable way to get calcium, iron and omega-3 fatty acids that can help lower cholesterol levels and improve your heart's health.

Almost every Filipino has a sardine can inside his pantry.  Recently, we were given King Cup sardines, made from fresh tamban  fish cooked in tomato sauce with just the right amount of spices.  King Cup sardines also has a firm, meaty texture rarely found in regular sardines.

Perhaps the best way to enjoy sardines is to simply sauté it with garlic and onions.

King Cup introduced the face of King Cup, Coco Martin, at the "Gabi ng mga Hari" trade launch.

King Cup also revealed the new look of their brand, which comes in two variants, sardines in tomato sauce with chili (in red) and sardines in tomato sauce (in green).

King Cup is just one of the many brands under Permex Producer and Exporter Corporation, which has been around for more than 30 years.  Permex operates in Zamboanga and is considered one of the biggest tuna and sardine processing plants in the Philippines.  They employ about 1,500 workers and with a rated capacity to produce 150 metric tons of sardines, and 70 metric tons of tuna per day.

Permex is also one of the few Philippine canning plants accredited by the European Union, that processes both tuna and sardines for export to the European Market.
