New Year, New Tablescape

The best thing about the new year is that it's a chance to experience new things and revisit old favorites.  At Casa Villa, the beginning of the new year means that it's also a chance to work on a new tablescape.

For this year, I wanted a bright and happy color for our dining table.  It all started with the printed table runner from India, that I found completely by surprise at True Value, and for a song!  It's only Php 180.00.  From hereon, I started looking into our table napkin drawer as I could clearly remember that we had table napkins of the same color.  True enough, we had a set of the same color and it complemented the yellow table runner.

I was also thinking, what casual dinnerware would fit the bright color scheme?  I remember we had a beige/gray American Atelier dinnerware set stored in our cabinet.  It is beautifully embossed with a leaf design and has a glaze finish.  I brought out the dinner plate, bowl and mug and it looks great, set altogether for the table setting.

Last month, I brought Mickey to Crate & Barrel at the Mega Fashion Hall
and we bought 4 pcs. of these tall Krosno glass tumblers from Poland

We are huge on hydration and are absolutely happy that we don't need to refill so often.  Also, these glass tumblers are wide enough so that you can easily clean the bottom part of the glass too.  They are wonderfully inexpensive at Php 159.00 a piece.

They match our current table setting very well

The flatware is a mix of our trustee Robert Welch set from Rustan's and Sola Swiss

Our current table setting for the new year!

Want to have a great dining experience in the comforts of your own home?  It need not be expensive, just combine new discoveries with old favorites.  Bring out the nice dinnerware, glassware, flatware and table linens that you have in storage and use them for everyday.  It makes a lot of difference, and most importantly, don't forget to have fun!
