Locally

There is a trend that I am loving recently, and for me it couldn't have come any sooner - It is the love for anything local.  Whether its being a tourist in our own country, exploring any of our 7,107 islands, going back to our roots and rediscovering local cuisines, finding our intricately designed accessories and fashion being revered even in foreign countries, as well as skilled craftsmanship in terms of furniture-making.  Right now, It's a good time to celebrate all things Philippine-made.

With this wave of loving all things local, a homegrown beverage brand called Locally was recently launched, a first of its kind, serving unique all-Pinoy flavors never before released.  With Locally, you get a taste of different regions in the Philippines with its ten indigenous flavors with really unique names.

Mangosteen
(Mangosteenie Miney Mo)

Sineguelas
(Save the Best for Sineguelast)

Dalandan
(You've Dalandan It Again)

Tamarind
(Tamarind My Bell)

Guyabano
(Guyabano-Body But You)

Pomelo
(Pomelong & Lasting Love)

and Buco
(Merci Buco, made of 100% Coconut Water, Lychee and Buko Pandan)

Gretchen King, Group Product Manager for Locally, shares "There has been a resurgent advocacy promoting homegrown brands and products.  The country has seen an increase in fairs selling local produce, restaurants featuring their own take on local dishes, local art and films being recognized, etc.  Loving Local is definitely in right now, and it's a good thing because it enables us to support our own communities and promote Filipino pride, which is exactly what Locally is all about.",

"Each of our flavours is created from natural, homegrown fruits sourced from different parts of the country - there's the tamarind from Central and Southern Luzon, Mangosteen from Davao and Calamansi from Isabela, among others.  We aim to raise awareness and appreciation of our local produce, and in turn, support Filipino farmers and the farming community," she added.  At the heart of the brand lies the commitment to champion a sense of Pinoy pride in an inherently fun way, capturing the Filipino spirit.  "We wanted Locally to reflect something uniquely Pinoy so we used the names of the fruits, and injected a punny twist to them."

Influencers played a fun game of "Pinoy Henyo" with the audience:
